Experience
- As former After Five Jazz Band leader and Warlock Records recording
artist, Maurice has had a major role in developing and sustaining jazz
guitar in its coolest form as well as introducing new and exciting markets
for musicians and enthusiasts for nearly twenty years.
- During a ten year period Maurice
Johnson has been published by Mel Bay Publications, Mix Books and Artist
Pro Press, authoring four nationally published music career book titles
for the performing and aspiring musician.
- In 1992 he co-founded D’Leco
Acoustic Instruments, Inc., builders of fine hand-crafted arch top
guitars. As DLeco’s Marketing Director Maurice successfully negotiated
licensing agreements with both Gibson Guitar Company and Samick Musical
Instruments, launching two exclusive lines of Charlie Christian guitar models
into mass production.
- At D’Leco, Maurice directed
business and became the exclusive representative of the Charlie Christian
Guitar development and marketing campaign. Becoming a well-known and familiar
face at major music industry trade shows, he managed to position D’Leco
among the famous Blue Guitar
Collection and on into the Smithsonian
Institute and further still, into Chronicle
Publishing’s Blue Guitars
book.
- Prior to developing mauricejohnson.com, in 2000, Maurice
Johnson created and introduced Gigorama
Software products to assist bands and musicians with a wide range of
business tasks specific to their own industry, including gig tracking; financial
summaries; automated contracts; etc. Gigorama has become an increasingly popular
software of choice among bands and musicians.
